Frommer's Seattle Day by Day guidebook

The most well respected name in travel guidebooks - Frommer's - has chosen Howard Frisk of Seattle Photographs to be the photographer for their new Seattle area guidebook, Seattle Day by Day. This will be about the 20th book in the very popular Day by Day series, and publication is scheduled for November 2008. We received a list of over 200 priority locations in the Seattle area that needed to be photographed in 5 weeks. We met the deadline and the Frommer's Photo Editor was very pleased with our results The book should be available at Barnes & Noble, Borders, and Amazon.com. 

Web site upgrade complete

We have finished upgrading the browsing and shopping cart function of our web site. You will notice these improvements:

• Faster loading galleries
• Faster search results
• Larger sized images are now viewable - up to 1600 pixels wide so even minute detail is visible
• Automatic photo resizing - this is really great: the photos displayed automatically resize to become larger as your screen resolution increases, or smaller as your screen resolution decreases so you get the best possible viewing experience.
• A movable cropping template is now available during the checkout process - this gives you precise control over how a photograph is cropped
• Customizable browsing look and feel - you have a choice of seven different viewing layouts so you can pick the one you like best
• New slide show function

Simplified pricing

We have vastly simplified our digital stock photo pricing structure: there are now only 4 price levels:

• $25 - Personal Low-Res (1 Mpix) use: personal blogs, web sites, presentations

• $45 - Commercial Low-res (1 Mpix) use:  business blogs, web sites, presentations

• $95 - Commercial Hi-Res (4 Mpix) use:  newsletters, brochures, product packaging, software, 1/2 page magazines, post cards

• $195 - Commercial Original (varies from 6 to 13 Mpix)  use: annual reports, books, full page magazines, newspapers, POP displays, billboards. posters, calendars, any other application where you need maximum resolution and detail.

Many stock photo agencies base their price on a very complicated pricing structure, where they factor in such things as territory, print runs, amount of circulation, distribution area, industry, placement (front vs. back), incremental sizes, etc. None of this matters in our simplified pricing.

We now have over 2,000 high resolution photographs online, which is among the largest collection of relevant Seattle photographs anywhere. You can search at the big name stock photo agencies and get thousands upon thousands of search results, but may of these photographs have little if anything to do with Seattle. We strive to make our photographs relevant.

More print choices

You can get your prints on paper with a matte or lustre finish, on canvas, or on canvas which is stretched and mounted on wood stretcher bars in sizes up to 24" x 36". Larger sizes are available on certain photographs.
